Tip #12: How to communicate with your delivery person
There are two ways that you can communicate with your delivery person through Route Manager. The first way is from the Route tab on the Customer Information Screen. There is a pager icon that allows you to send your delivery person a message via email or SMS.

If you have both an email and a cell phone number entered into the Employee Setup page, then you will see these two options:

If you only have one or the other entered into Employee Settings, it will automatically choose that option. If they have neither setting entered into Employee Settings, it will default to an SMS message and allow the user to input a phone number into the "SMS To:" field.  Don't forget: sending an SMS to your delivery person from any screen will charge you one CMC point per SMS (160 characters).

The other way to communicate with your delivery person is through the Delivery Order screen. On this screen, the pager icon in located on the right panel near the bottom.

From this screen, you will have the same destination options for your message, but you will also have an additional option that includes choices for what you would like to include in your message.

Extra helpful hint: To avoid using your CMC points to send an SMS to your delivery person, go to the Employee Setup screen and enter the 10 digit phone number followed by the appropriate ending (i.e. for Verizon cell phone carriers, enter the 10 digit phone number followed by @vtext.com) into the email address field.  Then, when sending a message to your deliver person, select "Email" from the two options. This will not charge you a CMC point because the message will actually be an email sent to the delivery person's cell phone number. Normal text messaging rates for the cell phone user will apply.
