Folsom Finance Department Earns Two Distinguished Awards
The City of Folsom Finance Department has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association for the United States and Canada (GFOA). These awards are the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.   The GFOA is a nonprofit association representing nearly 18,000 government finance professionals throughout North America.

Folsom Rotary Ann Club Makes Scholarship Donation
The Rotary Ann Club recently presented a $500 check to the Folsom Parks & Recreation youth scholarship fund.  The fund provides assistance for children of Folsom families in financial need to participate in recreation activities. Free Life Jacket Rentals
The Folsom Fire Department offers a Life Jacket Loaner Program, which provides Folsom residents free daily and weekend rental of life jackets for all ages of children and adults. In order to be loaned a life jacket, borrowers must sign a waiver form and provide a valid driver's license. The free, loaner life jackets are available at the City of Folsom Fire Station 35 at 535 Glenn Drive. For more information, contact the City of Folsom Fire Department at 916-984-2280.
Volunteer Opportunity at the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary
The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is looking for volunteers age 18+ to staff the zoo's gift shop. Our quaint shop sells a variety of clothing, books, toys and plush animals. All proceeds benefit the zoo. If you enjoy meeting new people and talking with the public, this could be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! The position requires experience using computers and handling retail transactions. Summer operating hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Folsom Disc Golf Expo Saturday
Come and learn all about disc golf at this free event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at the Folsom Sports Complex. There's something for everyone - youth and adult - beginners to advanced level players. The expo features free instruction, fun skills challenges, a putting circle, a raffle, and a selection of gear for sale. The Folsom Sports Complex is located at 66 Clarksville Road. 'Remember the Ladies' with Author Gina Mulligan
Gina Mulligan, author and founder of Girls Love Mail, will discuss her work and present her debut novel "Remember the Ladies" at the Folsom Public Library on Saturday, July 16 at 1 p.m. Book sales and signing to follow the discussion. Learn more at www.folsom.ca.us/library.
Legos at the Library
You bring the ideas, we provide the Legos! The Folsom Public Library has a large Lego collection, and kids can put their creations on display for all to see. Free family fun for kids ages 5 and up every Saturday, 2 to 4 p.m.
Johnny Cash Tribute Band at Friday's Summer Concert in the Park
The summer concert series continues this Friday, 7 to 9 p.m. at City Lions Park, featuring the Cash Prophets, a Johnny Cash tribute band. The free concerts are presented by Folsom Parks & Recreation with the generous sponsorship of Folsom Rotary Clubs and Guild Mortgage Company. Bring a picnic or purchase food and beverages on site. Registration is Open for Wacky Dash
End your summer on a wild and crazy note with this great family fun event on Saturday, August 6, starting at 8 a.m. in Rodeo Park. The Wacky Dash is a 2-mile obstacle course challenge featuring mud pits, a hay tunnel, balance beams, giant inflatables, water slides, a foam tunnel, pyramid climb, and lots of other fun surprises. Tackle the course as an individual or form a team with your family and friends. Zany and colorful attire is encouraged to add to the fun.
