Pleasanton Defers 'Gatekeeper' Policy
Pleasanton is deferring action on a proposed 'gatekeeper' policy pending internal review and discussion. BIA|Bay Area and its members were among the strong voices that raised serious questions about the proposal released earlier this year. It would have established a new annual advance review of all requested legislative changes in Pleasanton, a dragnet approach that would have caught up  everything from a general plan amendment to a minor zoning adjustment.  Full Story
Diablo Water Lifts Outdoor Watering Limits
Effective June 1, 2016, the Diablo Water District serving Oakley lifted the four-day per week limit on outdoor irrigation enacted during the drought. The district has also reduced water charges by $0.19 per cubic foot after its water supplier -- Contra Costa Water District -- dropped its rates. Full Story
DSRSD Considers Connection Fee Increase
Serving Dublin and San Ramon, DSRSD will hold a public hearing on June 21, 2016, to consider increasing its water capacity or hook-up fee by 3 percent or $356 per ⅝" meter from $12,407 to $12,763. If adopted, the new rate will go into effect on July 1, 2016. DSRSD is also proposing to incorporate an automatic annual adjustment based on the Engineering News Record Cost Index for San Francisco, which would go into effect each July 1 starting in 2017. Full Story
Oakley To Host Developer Roundtable
Oakley Mayor Kevin Romick will host a roundtable luncheon with developers on June 30, 2016, to discuss challenges facing the residential development industry in the East Contra Costa County community. City Manager Bryan Montgomery and key staff will be on hand to talk about how the city and the development community can work to continue facilitating growth in Oakley. The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers at 3231 Main St. in Oakley. Travis USD Considers Fee Hike
The Travis Unified School District in Fairfield will hold a public hearing on June 14, 2016, to consider increasing its Level II school impact fee by 9 cents from $5.33 per sq. ft. to $5.42 per sq. ft. If adopted, the impact fee on a typical 2,000 sq. ft. house would increase $180 from $10,660 to $10,840. Full Story
Second Joint BIA-PG&E Forum Set for June 30
Sit down with PG&E representatives and discuss how the industry and the utility company can find ways to work more effectively together. The luncheon meeting will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on June 30, 2016, at the San Ramon Valley Conference Center, 3301 Crow Canyon Road, in San Ramon. This is the second joint session in a series that BIA|Bay Area initiated in 2015 after a number of members voiced concerns about the utility's processes and timelines. Alameda County May Boost Housing Bond
Faced with overwhelming needs amidst the region's epic housing shortage, Alameda County leaders may boost the size of its proposed $500 million affordable housing bond measure intended for the November 2016 ballot. The current plan calls for allocating $75 million toward homeownership program with the balance doing into rental housing. At a recent bond workshop, BIA|Bay Area East Bay Governmental Affairs Lisa Vorderbrueggen praised the homeownership component within the bond, specifically the down payment assistance funds for individuals earning up to 150 percent of the area median income. Thank you for another successful Trap Shoot Fundraiser for HomeAid
Thank you so much for all of your hard work and efforts for another successful HomeAid Northern California Trap Shoot!  Because of your support, we raised over $150,000 towards building new shelters for homeless families and individuals.  Thank you for braving the heat and for everything you did to make the event a great success.  We appreciate it!  We will plan a thank you party for a date that will work best for the Committee after the 4th of July.  We can also gather input on what worked and what we might improve for next year.  Thanks for accommodating the date change.  Click here for summary.
