Welcome to the Jungle of Books!

Join Wilton Library this summer for our Welcome to the Jungle of Books Summer Reading Program!  Children can register on Wandoo Reader, an online reading log to keep track of their reading anywhere they go as long as they have an Internet connection.  By reading and then logging in, kids will be eligible for benchmark prizes throughout the summer.  Summer Reading runs from June 15 - September 5.  Thanks to our Summer Reading Sponsors: Scoops, Subway, and The Toy Chest.

Our new iPads with ABC Mouse are now available to check out and use in the Children's Library while you visit.  These devices can be checked out to the adult's library card who is accompanying a child.  A short usage form will need to be signed.

These tablets are a fun way for kids ages 2 - 6 to use technology to support early literacy and math skills!

Harry Potter!
Harry Potter

Hogwarts Summer Camp
Thursday, September 1
9 am - 5 pm

Summer is coming to an end and it's almost time to go back to school. Harry Potter is always happy to leave the Dursleys and go back to Hogwarts and this year you can go too! The Wilton Library is hosting an all-day fundraiser for children in grades 3-5. Children will be sorted into the four houses and attend a variety of magical classes and fun activities. They will learn how to disguise themselves with magic from the Weasley Brothers' joke business, have their fortunes told by Professor Trelawney, learn about magical creatures, and much much more. Lunch donated by Wilton's own Pinocchio Pizza. Register in person $55.00 per child.

Brambleheart
Miss Andrea recommends Brambleheart: A Story About Finding Treasure and the Unexpected Magic of Friendship by Henry Cole

Little Twig the chipmunk desperately wants to be at the top of his class in school, but his clumsiness prevents him from excelling - especially in Metal Craft. The Naming Ceremony is coming up and Twig just knows he won't be assigned to anything greater than an errand runner. After a very bad day at school Twig decides to run away from his home at the Hill, but when he is on the other side of the tunnel he discovers a mysterious golden orb. What could it be? Twig soon finds out when the orb cracks. Twig and his new friend embark on a journey of discovery and Twig learns about what is most important in life.

This book is a great summer read with interesting characters, a fun child-friendly plotline, and a dash of whimsy. The end is left open-ended, and I hope there will be a sequel.   Henry Cole's illustrations are the icing on the cake - beautifully illustrated pencil drawings of all of the various animal characters are throughout. Recommended for ages 9 and up.
