The NFF announced that Tod Leiweke, the chief operating officer of the NFL and a longtime sports industry innovator, will be inducted into the NFF Leadership Hall of Fame. He will be honored Jan. 5 at the Tampa Convention Center during an induction dinner that kicks off the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship weekend.
Roscoe C. Brown Jr., a trail-blazing aviator and a public servant for more than six decades in education, the military and in government, passed away July 2 at the age of 94. Brown was honored as the 2012 recipient of the National Football Foundation's Gold Medal, its most prestigious honor.

July 23, Mascot Day-  Show your favorite college mascots some love on Mascot Day! Fans who dress up as their favorite college mascot get FREE admission to the Hall on July 23. Guests must arrive in costume to our box office to receive free entry.

July 30, Educator Day- The Hall will hosts its own "Educator Day" and offer FREE admission to teachers and principals with valid identification. Educators can also learn about our free T.E.A.M.S. curriculum - a comprehensive lesson plan focused on technology, engineering, arts, mathematics and science. The Hall's compelling educational experience is sure to bring your class to its feet!
The College Football Hall of Fame opened its doors Aug. 23, 2014, in the heart of Atlanta's sports, entertainment and tourism district. Adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park, the new Hall provides visitors with a highly immersive, interactive and engaging experience using a blend of historic college football artifacts and state-of-the-art, interactive multimedia exhibits. The Blitz
NFF Board Member and College Football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott (Southern California) was recently inducted into the State of  California Sports Hall of Fame. Former Azusa Pacific (Calif.) football player Christian Okoye was also inducted.

Chris Plonsky, an NFF Board Member emeritus and the women's athletics director and executive senior associate athletics director for external services at the University of Texas, will serve as president of NACDA for 2016-17.

2016 College Football Hall of Fame electee Marlin Briscoe (Nebraska Omaha) and Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Spurrier (Florida) were inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame July 2. Former Colorado College football player Tom Southall was also inducted.

Vashti Cunningham, the daughter of 2016 College Football Hall of Fame electee Randall Cunningham (UNLV), became the youngest athlete since 1980 to make the United States track and field team for the Olympics by qualifying in the high jump.

College Football Hall of Famers Johnny Bailey (Texas A&M-Kingsville), Chris Gilbert (Texas), Johnny Roland (Missouri) and Jerry Sisemore (Texas) and Hall of Famer and 1970 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Dave Elmendorf (Texas A&M) are among those on the ballot for the 2017 State of Texas Sports Hall of Fame Class. Also on the ballot are former football players Donald Driver (Alcorn State), Byron Hanspard (Texas Tech), King Hill (Rice), Eric Metcalf (Texas), Tracy Saul (Texas Tech) and Darren Woodson (Arizona State); former coach and Houston player Wade Phillips; and former Texas Tech athletics director Gerald Myers.

College Football Hall of Famer Mike Singletary (Baylor) will be working with the Los Angeles Rams as a defensive advisor.

College Football Hall of Fame coach John Gagliardi delivered a signed football with the inscription "Welcome Back" to Texas Wesleyan head coach Joe Prud'homme. The Rams will return to the field for the first time since World War II in 2017.
Over The Middle
Longtime member of the NFF Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Chapter Denny Douds was honored June 10 for celebrating 50 years at East Stroudsburg University (Pa.). Douds enters his 43rd season as head coach in 2016 and has amassed 256 career victories, second in NCAA Division II history.

The NFFCHOF Bill Dooley (N.C.) Chapter will host its 14th annual Pigskin Preview July 18 at the Embassy Suites in Cary, N.C. The event will feature head football coaches from colleges in the region, including David Cutcliffe (Duke), Dave Doeren (N.C. State), Larry Fedora (North Carolina), Jerry Mack (N.C. Central) and Scottie Montgomery (East Carolina). All proceeds from the event benefit the chapter's scholarship program.

The NFF Nebraska Chapter will hold its Hall of Fame Banquet on Sept. 9 at the University of Nebraska's Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

Since 1959, the National Football Foundation has annually recognized the best and brightest college players, presenting them with prestigious NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards, presented by Fidelity Investments. The $18,000 postgraduate scholarships are presented at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City. 

Launched in 2008, the NFF Scholar-Athlete Alumni Association provides a powerful vehicle for past honorees to remain in the vanguard of the NFF's present efforts.
