+ worship

We continue our journey through the Psalms with this week's reading: Psalm 100. We are invited to join the Psalmist in praising God, simply for being God - merciful and faithful. This invitation extends beyond our church, including other lands and people in the joyous songs of God's goodness.

  • Christ in Our Home devotional materials are now available for the third quarter of 2016. You will find them on the WELCA table.
  • Wondering Women, the Monday evening Bible Study for women of all ages, will begin a new study on Sept. 12th at 6:30 p.m. in the North Classroom of Fellowship Hall.  The Pursuit of Holiness, by Jerry Bridges, " goes deeply into Scripture to study what role the Holy Spirit plays in spiritual formation and what responsibilities are ours."  The study is 12 sessions long and will end on Dec. 12.  Anyone interested in joining the group can contact Nancy Seekamp at 687-8265 or email her here.

+ youth

We're having Youth Group  this Sunday,
July 10th,  from 7-8pm at the church!

We're going to play a fun game!
Here's what you need to do:
Bring an object that you think best describes or represents you (like your favorite book, or a baseball mitt, or a bottle of nail polish- don't bring anything too fragile or valuable, please!). Put it in a plastic grocery bag (like a Target/Ingles bag) and tie it shut so it can't be seen from the outside!

See you in the Fellowship Hall
this Sunday night at 7!

+ give

Giving of our time and treasures can be difficult with our summer schedules but please remember our community needs often rise during these summer months.

ABCCM needs your help! ABCCM South - right around the corner from Nativity - is greatly in need of help, any day of the week and any time from 8:30a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  There are a great variety of volunteer jobs available.  The people who run this ministry are truly wonderful to work with, and your gifts would be a blessing!  Call ABCCM at 684-3782 or stop by the blue house at 10 Buck Shoals Road, Arden.   If you have questions, please contact Nancy Seekamp at 687-8265 or email her here

Just after the July Fourth holiday, school supplies go on sale. We are in the process of making 125 bags for Lutheran World Relief School Kits and each bag contains: four 70 sheet spiral notebooks of wide or college ruled paper 8"x 10.5"; one 30-centimeter ruler or a ruler with centimeters on one side and 12 inches on the other; one pencil sharpener; one pair of blunt scissors; five unsharpened #2 pencils;  five black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); one box of 16 or 24 crayons; one 2.5 inch eraser. If you would like to provide these items when they go on sale, they may be placed in the basket under the women's bulletin board in the hallway to the right as you exit the worship area. If you would rather contribute dollars to help buy school items, you may place your donation  marked "school kits"  in the offering plate.  Thank you for your help.

As many of you know, the Council is the group tasked with setting the long-term vision here at Nativity.  The Council is currently reviewing church policies and discerning together whether new policies should be added.

Most recently, the Council has been evaluating our own readiness in the unlikely event of a hostile presence at the church. Our Constitution states that the Council shall, "promote a congregational climate of peace and goodwill..." (C12.04.g). In keeping with our task, we are discerning what policy Nativity is being called to establish that will preserve our commitment to maintaining a safe haven that is both peaceful and welcoming to all. This policy will cover all church functions, including Youth, outreach, fellowship, and all aspects of our common mission.

We ask for your prayers as we continue this holy work, and we will keep you updated as our deliberations yield something more concrete.
