Greetings!
SCSD Scholars Complete
Bridge Program
The first cohort of SCSD Scholars completed their program of study with OPC on June 24th, celebrating their efforts and accomplishments during a small ceremony held in the Bistro at OCC. All five (5) Scholars received Certificates of Completion for the commitments they made to the OPC Scholars program throughout the spring. The students were also preparing to graduate from their local high schools that same weekend. All 5 Scholars have either been accepted to OCC for the fall, or have expressed intent to apply to OCC for fall attendance. The model will continue for the coming academic year, but with expanded reach. The OPC Scholar’s 2016-17 cohort will likely include students from SCSD, as well as the Liverpool, West Genesee and Cicero-North Syracuse school districts and OCM BOCES.
Students Receiving Special Education Services Spend a Day Exploring Careers
During the month of June, eleven students at Tully High School and nine eighth-grade students at OCM BOCES’ McEvoy Campus in Cortland were provided with interactive individualized career exploration workshops. The workshops were guided by OPC Recruiter, Dean Tzivanis, who facilitated the experience by teaching the students how to use OCC’s/OPC’s on-line Career Coach tool. Career Coach is available for free on the OCC site, for any prospective OCC student.
