June 13: BOS Making Budget Decisions

On Monday, June 13, the SLO Board of Supervisors will be voting on budget matters for the entire county, including money for an update for the Avila Area General Plan. All looks good at this point.

July 19: Attendance Needed at BOS Meeting!

On Tuesday, July 19, the SLO Board of Supervisors will be discussing the Resource Management System (RMS) study concerning traffic in Avila.  The purpose of the study is to determine if the current method of traffic analysis for Avila Beach has merit*. County staff will most likely present several options to the Board of Supervisors for consideration.

*Avila is the only area in SLO County for which a traffic evaluation method appears in the General Plan.  It also is the only area where traffic for proposed projects is evaluated solely on a second weekday in May, even for visitor-serving projects that will have most traffic on summer weekends. In addition to actual impacts not being identified, evaluated, and mitigated, disregarding actual impacts is contrary to California Enviromental Quality Act (CEQA).

Concerned Citizens are urged to attend the July 19 meeting in a royal blue shirt and show support for this important issue. We will communicate about an approximate hearing time when the agenda is available, about a week before the hearing.
