Did You Know?
Israel is known for its achievements in innovation, start-ups, medical patents and even its oranges, but how about sports? In the Olympics, Israel has one gold medal for windsurfing, one silver medal for Judo and five additional bronze medals. Maccabi Tel Aviv, Israel's leading basketball team, won six times in European Championships, and an Israeli player, Omri Casspi, plays on an NBA team, the Sacramento Kings. A new achievement was reached this week, when the Israeli team for  rhythmic gymnastics won the Gold medal in the European Championships! Video here . I'm looking forward to the summer bringing more achievements for Israel!
Na'ama, the JCCNV's Shlicha, serves as an advocate for Israel within the Jewish and broader community in Northern Virginia.

Sadie has heard the voice of God her entire life. But she has never answered back, after all, why her? As her parent's marriage crumbles, and her own love interest takes off, Sadie's life takes a comical turn toward the absurd. And in the midst of it all she must come to terms with her own worth and whether or not it's time to let in the voice. Redder Blood was commissioned by the JCCNV.

Dear Friends,

The question: How can we maintain and impart Jewish ideals and values to the next generation; a hot topic for our generation of parents. A recent report, released by the Foundation for Jewish Camp, found that sending children to a Jewish camp has a significant impact on their "adult Jewish engagement."

We know that some of your children may be too young for traditional camp, but we have lots of fantastic Jewish summer programming with  Growing Jewish Families (GJF)   perfect for any age . Start your little ones off right; follow us About Town for tours, braid challah with us at Whole Foods, meet us for a family dinner, or come to a special havdalah picnic to have wonderful experiences with other families raising Jewish children in NoVA this July.

Our theme this month is Jewish camp. We'll read books about summer camp and do age-appropriate crafts and activities to learn more about what makes camp fun, memorable and meaningful for so many children each summer. If you attended camp as a child we might even spark some memories from your own childhood. Whether you called it "lanyard" or "gimp" it was creative and fun for everyone! And if you never attended a Jewish summer camp, this is your opportunity to experience the fun for yourself while connecting with your family.

Come on a camp adventure with us!

"Keys to Being an Effective Parent, Even When You're Stressed and Tired" presented by Rachel Bailey. We all want to feel good about the way we parent, but in today's society we're often too busy and exhausted to parent the way we want to. In this discussion, you'll learn a simple strategy that will help you raise responsible, confident children -- without having to make stressful, large-scale changes in your family.

Take a break from your regular routine and connect with other women. Bring a friend, and make new ones too!
