Carter: "Care packages can't solve problems in Washington"

BETHEL, CT – Today, Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Dan Carter commented on US Senator Richard Blumenthal recent theatrics.

"Today Senator Blumenthal found the time to bring care packages to the Connecticut US House Delegation who were literally sitting down on the job of protecting Americans," Carter said. "Washington DC is quickly becoming a stage for political theater over policy solutions."

"Over the last week Senator Blumenthal has turned a national tragedy into a partisan fundraising opportunity and a stage for his friends to raise their political profiles," Carter said. "When he had the chance to vote for common sense legislation that had bipartisan support, he cowered to political opportunism."

"Senator Blumenthal stood and cheered as Senator Murphy accused Republicans of selling weapons to terrorists, and now he's delivering care packages to his colleagues in the House, while they literally sit down on the job rather than work together to get something done," Carter said. "When will Senator Blumenthal put down his agenda and pick up the agenda of his constituents?"

"Americans are afraid, and rather than ask tough questions and do what it takes to empower law enforcement and the intelligence community from preventing the next attack, Senator Blumenthal is promoting his own agenda to raise money and his own profile," Carter concluded. "Enough is enough. Care packages to members of congress who are sitting down on the job rather than getting to work will not solve one problem, it only adds to the partisan gridlock"
