Meet Ryker's Family
Ryker is a three-year-old boy whose story we shared with you in our most recent direct mail. Ryker's story is an excellent example of the programs and services our donors help make available for children and youth with disabilities and health challenges living on Vancouver Island and in the surrounding region. You can read his story in pdf form on our website here.

Direct mail is one of the many ways the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island engages with community members to increase awareness about the work we do and raise funds for children and youth in need. If you didn't receive the mailing and you would like to be added to our mailing list, please contact Christine O'Keefe, our Development Assistant, at  [email protected] or 250-519-6977.

Last year more than 11,000 children and families island-wide, received much-needed care and treatment through programs and facilities funded by Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island.

Unfortunately, there are many more families, especially in rural and remote communities, who are not yet receiving the help they need. This is hard to believe, right here on Canada's west coast - but it's true.

We believe that all children deserve to reach their full potential. A donation from you can be the difference between a child in need being helped, or going without.

Butterfly Ball Victoria

Our 8th annual Butterfly Ball Victoria sold out in a record breaking eight hours this year!  As the ballroom doors opened to reveal our "Under the Big Top" theme, the girls were mesmerized as circus performers danced around the room.
Butterfly Ball Comox Valley

Brian and Emma Miller (above) shared their emotional story, emphasizing the importance of community support.  Brian spent his first Father's Day in the hospital with new baby girl and this year he was able to celebrate with her at the Butterfly Ball.
Dads and daughters, granddads and grand-daughters, uncles and nieces celebrated their special bond with a Butterfly Waltz, fun dance lessons, a gourmet dinner, games and sweet treats; all while supporting island children with disabilities and health challenges. Thanks to everyone who came to the Butterfly Ball. Special thanks to all of our fantastic volunteers and generous sponsors! The Butterfly Ball would not have been such a great success without all of you!
Bayview Place | Island Saving Open a Hole in One!

Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island's board and staff would like to congratulate and thank the Victoria Open Golf Society, Uplands Golf Club, Mackenzie PGA Tour Canada, tournament organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and commuity members on the great success of the 2016 Bayview Place Island Savings Open. We were thrilled to share our commitment to youth mental health at this event.

We are so grateful for this three-year partnership. Bayview Place | Island Savings Open has raised significant funds to help us continue to work towards our vision that children and youth have access to the services and supports they need to ensure a healthy life.

You can find us featured in the amazing tournament recap video Mackenzie Tour PGA Tour Canada created here.
TELUS Days of Giving at Jeneece Place

Telus celebrated their tenth annual Days of Giving this year. We are grateful to have been chosen asone of the many beneficiaries.

It was wonderful to see volunteers zipping around the kitchen preparing soup, stew, muffins, and more.   Volunteers were also hard at work in the garden weeding, expanding the kitchen garden, replanting bushes, and seeding to make the Jeneece Place grounds beautiful.  All of this and more was done between 1pm and 8pm. It was absolutely incredible.

Thank you to the volunteer team and Telus Days of Giving for the thoughtful planning, generosity, and hard work. See more photos of the day here.
Connect with us on the new Jeneece Place Facebook Page!

You asked and we delivered! Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island has finally created an official Facebook Page for Jeneece Place. Over the past few years we have been asked by families and community members where they could learn more about Jeneece Place, share their experiences, or reconnect with other Jeneece Place families.

We are excited to provide a place online to bring together the Jeneece Place community. We hope you join us and 'like' our page!

Angie Edroff, Jeneece Edroff's Mother, has been kind enough to write a letter welcoming everyone to the new page, which you can view here.
Kids Care Program!
Every month, kids arrive at Children's Foundation of Vancouver Island's office with bags filled with coins they raised through lemonade stands and birthday parties. It is truly moving to see how eager they are to support children in need.
A few weeks ago we had Charlie and her brother Eamonn (top right) stop by to donate Charlie's birthday money! Big thanks to Charlie for helping us help children in need and spreading the joy of giving. What a wonderful tradition she is passing on to her younger brother.
We also had Sophia and Cohen (bottom right) come in to donate their birthday money! This past March Cohen turned five years old and Sophia turned eight years old in May. Sophia and Cohen's family have been donating their birthday money since Sophia was two years old. The Foundation is so grateful for their continuous  support.

Kids Care program was created to support kids with their fundraising efforts, as individuals, or with their school or activity group. You can find more information about it in our Kids Care Guide here.

Thanks to all of the children and youth who take part in the Kids Care Program, all of your donations make a difference in the lives of other children.

Thank you for taking time to read our e-news. We feel incredibly fortunate to serve children and youth with health challenges and disabilities on Vancouver Island and even more grateful that we have community members, like you, who support our work.

Sincerely,

Lenore Kennedy, Interim Communications Manager
