Alamo Colleges - Northeast Lakeview College Nets Quality Texas Foundation Pioneer Award
Alamo Colleges - Northeast Lakeview College was presented the Pioneer Level Award from the Quality Texas Foundation.

Alamo Colleges - Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) received the Quality Texas Foundation (QTF) Pioneer Level Award (Beginners Level) at the recent 23rd Annual Quest for Excellence Conference held in San Antonio, Texas. This is NLC's first award from the foundation.

In FY 2017, NLC will engage in year two of the South Texas Excellence Partnership (STEP), which consists of Schertz Cibolo Universal City ISD, City of Schertz, City of Cibolo, Northeast Lakeview College, and ESC-20 (Education Service Center Region 20) and submit for the Quality Texas Foundation Engagement Recognition Level. The Quality Texas Foundation assists organizations with continuous improvement efforts by utilizing the Baldrige Framework.



Alamo Colleges - San Antonio College's Eco Centro Teams with Texas A&M University for Garden Camp
SAC's William R. Sinkin Eco Centro hosted a Youth Garden Summer Camp in partnership with Texas A&M University.

For the first time, Alamo Colleges - San Antonio College's William R.Sinkin Eco Centro joined the Texas A&M University AgriLife Extension Service to hold a Youth Garden Summer Camp. The mission of the three-day summer camp was to teach youth about sustainability, respecting and caring for nature, and to provide knowledge of food sources.

Research has shown that gardening is an effective way to help children gain a respect for nature and the environment, learn about nutrition and improve food choices. Activities included gardening, worm composting, and arts and crafts. Bexar County Master Gardeners also provided volunteers for the camp.


Alamo Colleges has  received an additional $1,035,317 from the Skills Development Fund to train Rackspace employees

Alamo Colleges Nets Additional $1,035,317 for Rackspace Training

The Alamo Colleges' Skills Development Fund office has received notification of approval for an additional $1,035,317 from the state's Skills Development Fund to provide Rackspace training. Alamo Colleges has been providing training in areas such as Linux/Apache, Windows, Cisco, Red Hat, network security and Microsoft Server. Upon completion of training, Rackspace participants will have a deeper understanding of hosting and cloud technology.
