What Happened this Week?
The Chicago Association of Realtors took the top two donation spots this week, donating
a total of $66,423
to the
Illinois Association of Realtors Fund Super PAC
on Monday
. The Chicago Association of Realtors was one of many groups that urged a major revision of the Chicago Airbnb ordinance between the Chicago City Council Committee on Housing and Real Estate meeting in late May and its final passage by the entire City Council last week. The Super PAC has supported Chicago Aldermen in the past, many of whom were among the 43 to vote in favor of the ordinance's passage. The expenditures ranged from $14,000 to $29,000 for Ald. Brian Hopkins, Ald. Michael Scott, Jr., Ald. James Cappleman, and Ald. Raymond Lopez.
On Monday, the Illinois Road Builders PAC transferred $40,000 to the Illinois Republican Party. The transfer occurred in the midst of continuing reports that road construction across the state would come to a halt without a budget solution by tomorrow's deadline. The PAC has made transfers to both Republicans and Democrats in the past, including $50,000 to Mayor Emanuel and $25,000 to Governor Quinn during the 2014 Gubernatorial Election.
