Community Foundation Surveys
Feedback is important to the Community Foundation, and there will be several formal opportunities to participate over the next few months.
As mentioned above, offer your feedback regarding the Nonprofit Network here .
The Community Foundation's grants team will send two short surveys over the next several weeks to gather input. The first survey will help us review our
grant application deadlines in an effort to better serve our nonprofit organizations and donors. The second survey will help us review the use of the Organizational Development Fund over the past 10 years. The surveys will be emailed at the beginning of July and the beginning of August, respectively, to nonprofits who have applied for a grant in the last three years. We welcome your feedback in order to improve our service to you.

Reminders & Opportunities!
Corridor Business Journal Giving Guide
The Corridor Business Journal is publishing a new Giving Guide in September 2016. The purpose of the publication is to provide an opportunity for you - the nonprofit sector - to share who you are, what your organization does, why you need support, and how the community can help.  The Community Foundation is sponsoring this Guide to help offset the cost for nonprofits to participate and to help spread the word of the good work you are all doing in our communities.  More information about the Giving Guide, including the cost and submission details, can be found  here The deadline for space reservations is Monday, July 11, 2016. Please contact Kelly Meyer at 319-887-2251 ext. 303 or [email protected] if you are interested in participating.

MEANS Database Facilitates Food Donation Distribution
A native Iowan had an idea to help donated food distribution, and the idea has transformed to a revolutionary online system called Matching Excess And Need for Stability (MEANS). The database, at www.meansdatabase.com, offers free notifications for emergency feeding services about free food near them. Basically, donors list a donation, those who have signed up receive a notification, and then the food is claimed and pick-up is arranged. For more information about the website, visit here. Read more about the co-founder's story here.

AmeriCorps Service Project Outreach
The AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a government funded organization that works with nonprofits in the areas of urban and rural development, infrastructure improvement, environmental stewardship, energy conservation, and natural/other disasters. Teams consist of 8-12 people. The North Central Region is based in Vinton, Iowa, and service includes the Cedar Rapids area. An NCCC sponsor can apply to have a team volunteer with their organization for a maximum of eight weeks, with 40-hours of work per week. If you are interested in learning more about this program, please contact Carmen Hegarty, Cedar 3 Project Outreach Liaison, at 717-321-4676 or [email protected].
