Senator  Ed Harbison

Over the last month, I have had a great time making my way around the district! I have served on a number of panels discussing Georgia's 2016 legislative landscape and attended various events. I truly enjoy attending events and appreciate the invitations that many of you have extended.

While many of us flock to the beach for a needed vacation during the summer months, state government is working frantically to gear up for a "new year." July 1st not only marks the first day of Georgia's fiscal year, but it is also the day that most laws passed in the previous session go into effect. Summer months in Georgia will also see new infrastructure projects as t he Georgia Department of Transportation will continue to conduct road improvements throughout the state.

Local officials-  GDOT will begin accepting applications for the Fiscal Year 2017 LMIG Program on  July 1, 2016 .  Thanks to the passage of House Bill 170 (Transportation Funding Act of 2015) local governments should see approximately a 30% increase in their allocation this year. All LMIG applications must be received in the GDOT District Office no later than  January 1, 2017 If you should have any questions regarding the LMIG Program please contact the Local Grants Office in Atlanta at  (404) 347-0240

As always, thank you for your support and allowing me the opportunity to serve our district and state. If you need anything, please contact me anytime. God bless you my friends!
