  FIELD CANVASSER LEAD I & II
 

Summary

SisterReach is rolling out our Summer/Fall canvas and phone bank to grow our base support, increase reproductive justice issue literacy and gauge understanding around key SisterReach policy issues. We will be going door-to-door to reach out to and have face-to-face conversations within marginalized communities to hear directly from people impacted by state level legislation and local policies.

SisterReach is urgently hiring two Field Canvasser Leads to assist our Policy & Advocacy Associate in executing the canvas, phone banks and substantially grow our base in Memphis. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual looking to make an impact on reproductive justice issues, while also developing concrete organizing skills. A strong commitment to reproductive justice is a must. We are an equal opportunity employer.

Responsibilities
●     Engage with Memphis residents, on the doors and via phone banks, and provide education on SisterReach issues and values
●     Serve as a passionate and professional ambassador for the organization and its work
●     Consistently show up on time for all scheduled shifts, 2 evening Thur, Fri and 1 afternoon shift on Sat for eight weeks (12 hours weekly total). Saturday shift may will vary, depending on the needs of the canvass.

Qualifications
●     Previous canvassing experience, either in a paid or unpaid capacity, is preferred
●     Ability to follow general script and adjust as needed to audience
●     Ability to meet reasonable number of doors per night
●     Able to walk for several hours
●     Punctuality – shifts have pre-set start times, to be determined by the canvass manager
●     Good communication and interpersonal skills
●     Ability to quickly build a rapport in conversation with others, regardless of their views
●     Positive attitude, detail-oriented, highly motivated and organized
●     Ability to work respectfully with people of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
●     Enthusiastically supportive of mission and values of SisterReach
●     Access to a car a plus

Hours and Compensation:

Type: This is a part-time, flexible position beginning August 5th, 2016 and ending on October 1st, 2016.

Hours: 4-hour shifts to be decided among policy and field staff.

Compensation and Benefits: $12-15/hour, commensurate with experience; no benefits
