Please join us in congratulating Anita DeFrantz, whom we have selected to receive our 2016 Humanitarian Award. She will be honored with a reception in Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

This is our most prestigious award, reserved for individuals who strive to preserve the values of fair play, sportsmanship and drug-free competition in the world of sports.

During her continued time in sport, Anita has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to preserving the Olympic movement and creating positive sport experiences for youth and athletes around the world.

Last week sports groups around the world celebrated Olympic Day on June 23rd. This is a time when we can all unite and enjoy the values of the Olympics: excellence, friendship, and respect. It is also a celebration of the Olympic pillars: move, learn, and discover

The Foundation for Global Sports Development was thrilled to spend the day in Los Angeles with the LA84 Foundation and the LA2024 Exploratory Committee as they hosted a tremendous day of sport activities
Candace Cable, GSD Champion Ambassador and LA2024 Committee Member,  takes a moment to snap a photo with Globie
for 500 young Angelenos. Sports groups from the area spent the day teaching the youth the basics of Archery, Sitting Volleyball, Rugby, Badminton, Soccer, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Rowing, and Fencing.

We were proud to be sponsors of this incredible event and enjoyed seeing so many youth have fun experiencing the joy of sport.

During May and June we had the opportunity to share "Munich '72 and Beyond" with several locations who graciously hosted us for a screening. Many thanks to The Vilna Shul in Boston, The Illinois Holocaust Museum in Skokie, The Museum of Tolerance - a part of the Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, and Jewish Family & Children's Services  of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties for hosting us and sharing this important piece of Olympic and cultural history with your communities.
