June/July 2016
Dear Neighbor,

In June of 2010, around 140 members celebrated the Village's first anniversary with a reception followed by an informative presentation by Gail Sheehy at the Chicago History Museum. The occasion was also a benefit and funds were raised from ticket sales and host committee participation.

As the years went on and the Village grew, a silent auction and raffle were added to the event and the entertainment became, well... more entertaining with performers from The Second City and Steppenwolf.

Now in 2016, the Village has grown to over 425 members and so has the need for the programs and resources that members count on. And we have really learned how to party(!) - while raising the funds that support our work.

Record-Breaking Results!
Thanks to the generosity of Village members and friends - and the hard work of many people, our event was a record-breaking success!

Benefit by the Numbers: 17 Anniversary Planning Committee members; 50 Host Committee members; 75 auction items; 393 members, guests, volunteers, and staff; and Fund-A-Need pledges from over 76 donors earning a challenge grant of $7,500; and generated more that $90,000 after expenses (a 50% increase over last year).

Thanks to everyone who attended, donated, bid, volunteered, and otherwise participated to celebrate and support this unique and essential enterprise, Lincoln Park Village.
Dianne S. Campbell
Founding Executive Director
Welcome New and Renewing Members
The Village welcomes these new and renewing members. We are proud to report that 90% of members chose to renew their Village membership this past year. Thank you all!

Click here to view new and renewing members.
So Many Thank You's!
This happy and successful evening was made possible by so many people:

The planning committee co-chaired by Estelle Spector and Carol Rosofsky who worked as a team for many months to create the event  - and to Judy Bross who spearheaded the silent auction.

The host committee who supported the event with their contributions and invited guests.

The office team who made the whole process run like a top.

Many people contributed interesting, creative and desirable items to the auction. We are especially proud of the donations we received from our friends and supporters in the community .

With gratitude from a happy Village!
Fund-A-Need At Village Benefit Supports Member-Plus
The Village holds dear the values of inclusiveness and compassion and so even before opening the doors, this commitment was made:

Lack of money will never stand between anyone and Village membership.

And so the Member-Plus program was created to make membership available on a sliding scale to individuals and households earning less than $50,000 per year and for those with less than $28,000 a year, credit to be used for whatever they need or want.*  Click here for details of the Member-Plus program.

One of the best things about Member-Plus is that as you look around you at potlucks and programs and other gatherings, there is no way to tell who is a participant in the program. It is completely confidential and just one of the invisible support systems that strengthens the bonds within our community.

Read about the very first Member-Plus member here.

* Levels based on Elder Economic Security Standard Index which is a measure of the income required to meet the basic needs of elder households so they can live in the community setting of their choice.
A Member-Plus Story
At the benefit last week, member Don Bell spoke movingly of the impact that Village has on his life and what the Member-Plus program has meant to him. Read his story here .
