endor News
----------------------
Jump into July at the Hollywood Farmers Market this weekend.
Dive head first into the bounty of summer with
some juicy and sweet cherry, roma or heirlooms tomatoes; look to
Winter Green Farm, Deep Roots Farm, Big B Farm
and
Sweet Leaf Farm
to find your favorite 'maters.
There's no shortage of fruit either, with every berry under the sun in season at
Happy Harvest Farm
, and enough peaches, cherries, apricots, nectaries and plums to make your head spin at
Kiyokawa Orchards, Maryhill Fruit Company
and
ProFarm.
Do you have the picking itch? Good, because our farmers are bursting with beans, pickling cucumbers, cauliflower, carrots, onions and so much more all ready to take a brine bath and find their home in mason jar. Persephone Farm, Naked Acres Farm, and Sun Gold Farm are sure to have the perfect potential pickles for you.
Scratch Meats makes their debut at market Saturday bringing handmade smoked and fresh sausage made from scratch. Using traditional, ethnic and artisan recipes and made with sustainably sourced meat, they'll have over 10 types of sausage for sample and sale.
Sterling Cookies returns after a two week hiatus, so stop by to welcome them back and pick up their one of kind macaroons, bread puddings and quiche while your at it. Dragonfly Forge, Sacred Summit, The Hummus Stop, and Thomas & Sons Distillery are also on board for the week.
Hancock Street Painting was a success!
----------------------
We did it! Over 80 volunteers came out on Sunday the 17th to help us paint a beautiful 90-foot-long mural on Hancock Street. Thanks to all the volunteers, as well as special thanks to the events' supporters: City Repair, Orchard Supply Hardware, Rose City Park Presbyterian Church, Hotlips Pizza and Stumptown Coffee Roasters. You can see more pictures of the painting in our
Facebook photo album.

The Hands That Feed Us - InFARMation July 26th!
|
Join us as we dive deep into the issue of farmworker rights. We will explore this concept through the experiences of local farmers who strive to pay a fair wage, as well as through the international lens of Fair Trade.
What can eaters and producers do in Oregon to promote fair and safe working conditions for farmworkers? This timely discussion takes place as Oregon implements a new and higher minimum wage beginning July 1.
Come out for the discussion, deepen your understanding of the issues, and learn more!
Panelists include: - Javier Lara, owner of Anahuac Farms - Elizabeth Bennett, Assistant Professor, International Affairs, Lewis & Clark College - Jessie Myszka, Co-director of Operations at Equal Exchange
Where: Holocene, located at the corner of SE Morrison and SE 10th in Portland. Please note: Holocene does not have a street sign. They do have a fantastic sound and video system, a full bar, and serve food.
