Gwen Smith
is our
Special Guest Speaker

Gwen Smith is a speaker, author, songwriter, and worship leader who inspires women toward the heart of God through stories, songs, and Scripture. She has a defined ministry goal: to encourage you to think BIG thoughts about God and to point you toward His grace and truth. Her fun, enthusiastic, and relatable communication style puts audiences at ease and bridges generational, denominational, and racial divides. As a co-founder of the conference and devotional ministry Girlfriends In God, Gwen has helped thousands of women experience how the Word of God and the power of grace, through Jesus Christ, rejuvenates faith and enriches lives.

Gwen has shared her stories and songs on many television programs, including LIFE Today, The 700 Club, The Good Life, The Harvest Show, Homekeepers, Atlanta Live, and many radio programs, as well. She is the author of a book titled Broken Into Beautiful, which shares the same title as a heart-stirring song that she co-wrote and recorded. Additionally, she co-authored the new Girlfriends in God devotional books, Trusting God and Knowing God by Name, with her GiG ministry partners Sharon Jaynes and Mary Southerland.

Today, Gwen and the ministry team at Girlfriends In God encourage more than 800,000 women daily through their online devotions. In addition, she is a recording artist with Audio 31 Music. From 2008 to 2011, Gwen was a label artist for Great Worship Songs and a staff songwriter for both Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing and Sunday Best Music Publishing. Her newest EP, My Strength, My Song, was released in late 2013.

PROJECT: IMPACT - JULY
Project: Impact is just one of the ways you can help Valley Community Center as we are "Doing good for the community...with the community." Each month, you have an opportunity to donate items that are then collected and distributed to local agencies - everything from food, diapers, blankets, coats, shoes, and more!

July: School Backpack Drive
School will be here before we know it, and refugees getting acclimated to a new school can have difficulty, especially when the children may not speak English. Understanding that children need to take supplies to school is a new concept, and finances often limit parents' ability to supply the children. This month we're asking you to help make this transition easier! Fill a backpack or bring any of the following items:
  • Colored Pencils
  • Kleenex
  • Dry Erase Markers
  • Pens
  • Post-It Notes
  • Glue Sticks
  • Sharpened Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Folders with Prongs Inside
