C.S. Lewis Institute
Resources for Discipleship of Heart and Mind

Greetings!

Greetings in the name of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ! On behalf of the facilitators of the C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis (George Anderson, John Bishop, Jim Hiskey, and Jim Phillips), I offer you this edition of the CSLI Annapolis Newsletter.

Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute:

The C.S. Lewis Institute was founded in 1976 in the legacy of its namesake as an organization which endeavors to challenge, educate, and disciple those who will, like Lewis, articulate, defend, and live faith in Christ through personal and public life. The Institute's vision complements the work of the Church, equipping thoughtful believers to impact their sphere of influence for Jesus Christ. This discipleship of heart and mind takes place by means of teaching, readings, and mentoring.

Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis:

The Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis is to extend the mission of the C.S. Lewis Institute to the Annapolis community, with a special passion for the students and faculty of Saint John's College and the U.S. Naval Academy. Ours is to disciple the people the Lord brings to us and connect them to each other so that they can lead the Church, the State, and the nations.

May Update:

Greetings from Annapolis!

April was our final full month with the St. John's mens and women's fellowships. Our women's group, which we started this year, finished with between nine and twelve girls coming regularly. The men's group met at the Wine Cellar last week for their final meeting, and the girls group met today for a cookout. We are looking at doing a post-graduate Bible study with those students from St. John's who will still be in the Annapolis area over the summer and into the next year.

                                                                      Final St. John's Women's Fellowship

This month we've taken applications and conducted interviews for this next year's Fellows Program. We have a good class shaping up! So far, we have thirteen Year One Fellows and sixteen Year Two Fellows. We are looking forward to getting to know these new Fellows and reuniting with previous Year One Fellows. Orientation is scheduled for May 31st for both classes.

This month will be our final meetings for our men's and women's professional fellowships.  The women will meet with Art Lindsley at the Aslan House for the last time to study his book Love, The Ultimate Apologetic: The Heart of Christian Witness. The men's group is meeting with Jim Phillips at the Wine Cellar for a discussion on Andrew Murray's book Humility.

Ongoing
Please pray for the men and women associated with the Institute and the lives they have been entrusted to touch. Our ministry in Annapolis is not about numbers, it is about touching the lives of the men and women God brings to us before they go out into His service.

Aslan is on the move!

Sincerely in Christ,

Jim Phillips
