Dear Park Families,

As you may have heard by now, principal Andy Withers has accepted a district level Director job in the Sacramento area and will not be returning for this next school year.  For the past four years, Mr. Withers has worked tirelessly on behalf of all staff, students, and families at Park School.     I have also had the great opportunity to work with Andy for the past eight years and he will be missed by all, including his Mill Valley administrative colleagues.

I wanted to let you know that the principal position has already been advertised and the district is moving forward to find a quality replacement.   In the coming week I will be meeting with the staff and PTA to gather feedback on desired attributes in a new principal.  Also, being that school is out, and many staff and parents are out of town, the District will be sending an online survey to both parents and staff to gather feedback from the entire Park School community.

The plan is to have a new principal that is the right match for Park School in place by the start of school in August.   For the interviews, we will be assembling a team of staff and parents to interview candidates.  The interviews are tentatively scheduled for the last week of July.

I want to assure you that an inclusive selection process has been put in place that involves input from the school community.   Even though I know Mr. Withers is irreplaceable, I’m confident we will find a great candidate that will be a good fit for the school.

Yours in education,

Paul Johnson
Superintendent
