DID YOU KNOW?
The Rio 2016 Olympic mascot is named Vinicius and the Paralympic mascot is Tom.
Vinicius (pictured on the left) is a mixture of all the Brazilian animals.  Tom (pictured on the right) is a magical creature, a fusion of all the plants int he Brazilian forests.

SportFest 2016
SportFest will be September 17th, 2016 at the Servus Sports Centre.  The new location means more room for more interactive exhibitors!  New this year will be 'Come try it' areas, as well as a sporting equipment 'Swap and Buy', a roving gym, and much more!  Exhibitor registration is now open.

Southern Alberta Summer Games
More than 2,500 participants, including more than 600 from Lethbridge, took part in the 47th annual SASG, a multi-sport, grassroots games open to athletes of all ages.
The games ran from July 6-9th, at venues across the city. Full results can be found on the SASG website
Tour of Alberta - Day 1 - Lethbridge
The Tour of Alberta volunteer website is live! 
You can choose one or multiple volunteer roles. Upon completing your volunteer registration, you will receive a confirmation of your volunteer role, date and shift time.    We look forward to seeing you at the races and can't thank you enough for all of your efforts.  
2016 Alberta Summer Games
Leduc will welcome the Alberta Summer Games (ASG) from July 14-17, 2016.  Leduc will welcome over 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials from across Alberta to represent one of eight regional zones. The athletes competing will range in age from 11-17 years old competing in 14 different sports.  Of those, 69 of the athletes are from Lethbridge and area.

The ASDC SW has created an athlete support program to provide high quality sport science support to emerging high performance athletes in the region; this program is called the Athlete Enhancement Program (AEP). AEP is now accepting applications from regional athletes?

Rio 2016 - Just 25 days away!
On Monday July 11, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Athletics Canada named the athletes which will represent Canada in ATHLETICS at the games.  Among the athletes are Lethbridge's Heather Steacy (Hammer Throw) and Liz Gleadle (Javelin).

Rio 2016 will see the first ever Women's RUGBY SEVENS competition at the Olympic Games.  Included on the team roster is Lethbridge's Ashley Steacy, and fellow Pronghorn alumni Kayla Moleschi.

In the pool, Lethbridge's Rachel Nicol is one of 27 Canadian swimmers to represent Canada in Rio.  Rachel earned her spot at the Olympic and Para-swimming trials held in April.
Alberta Sport Connection Grants
The new Alberta Sport Connection Coach & Official Grants are now open!   Alberta Sport Connection has introduced several new grants to better support organizations and individuals to continue their pursuit of coach and official excellence across Alberta.  
The submission deadline for all applications  is July 15th, 2016.
