LOVE BETWEEN THE COVERS

"If you want to understand what makes the most popular of popular genres tick, hurry up and watch Love Between the Covers.
A refreshingly smart look at romance fiction today, yesterday, and tomorrow."

- Professor William Gleason
Princeton University

Have you been interested in adding a dynamic film to your media catalog or classroom? I have an award-winning documentary that your professors will love -- and find to be a valuable addition to classrooms in a wide range of subjects.

Love Between the Covers , directed by Emmy and Peabody Award-winner, Laurie Kahn   (A Midwife's Tale,  Tupperware!) is an intimate and smart exploration of the business and the global community that popular romance  fiction authors and readers have built.

Voted as the #1 Video of 2015 by the American Library Association Booklist Review, the film provides fascinating views from best-selling authors, insightful perspectives from respected scholars, and a behind-the-scenes look at how this billion-dollar industry pushes the envelope on diversity, sexuality, class and gender.

The film was part of the much larger Popular Romance Project that was funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. As a result, there many extraordinary teaching tools for professors to use. There is a broad and deep website,
PopularRomanceProject.org, which explores popular romance across time and across cultures, featuring videos and blogs by authors and scholars. The four panels at the project's very popular conference at the Library of Congress, What is Love? Romance Fiction in the Digital Age, were captured on video and these lively panel discussions are available online.

In addition, there is a fun multi-media resource guide the project created with the president of the International Association for the Study of Popular Romance . The Resource Guide provides students with video interviews, historical documents, clips from romantic films, popular advertisements, music, and more as it allows them to explore these topics:
        •  The Happily After vs. the Tragic Ending
        • Love Across Cultures
        • Race and Romance
        • Romance in the Digital Age
        • Jane Austen and the Romance Revolution
Academics will find Love Between the Covers teachable in courses on popular culture, business, publishing, and entrepreneurship, as well as sociology, literature, and women's studies. All in all, the film and its comprehensive digital components are materials that you and students will love!

Thank you for your interest and I'll look forward to hearing from you!
