The PHRA Will be Moving to Membership Dues Autobilling for Credit Cards
Many of you have been asking us over the years to provide autobilling for credit cards. We are happy to announce that we are now autobilling for all memberships purchased through credit card. If you pay your dues by check, you will still need to send the check to us.

If you pay by credit card, you will need to renew one more time manually (as you have been doing in the past) before your autorenewal will kick in.

If you need to cancel a credit card payment for your dues, simply sign into your PHRA account at www.PittsburghHRA.org and
delete the invoice via your member profile. This is found under Manage Profile > Invoices.

NEW: Looking for recruiters to participate in a focus group
Two University of Pittsburgh professors and a student researcher are conducting research regarding desired competencies in business school graduates. PHRA member Ron Magnuson, Kiersten Maryott, and Kaylee Philbrick will be using a survey for a paper they plan to submit for publication later this fall. The paper will address Experienced Based Learning (EBL) and how it can better prepare business students for their careers. The theory is that much more can be learned and retained by doing rather than by listening in the traditional classroom. While there has been significant research supporting this theory, very little research has been done addressing what students should be learning in an EBL environment. We are looking for recruiters to participate in a focus group that will provide us the insights and information needed to create a survey to be distributed to a large sample of business school recruiters. Specifically, we are trying to identify the gap between 'ideal' business school hires and current graduates. In addition we will ask recruiters to prioritize desired competencies and skills.

The focus group session will be conducted at a time and location convenient to the volunteers. Please contact Ron Magnuson at [email protected] if you are interested in participating or have any questions.
NEW: Nominations are now being accepted for the Pittsburgh Business Ethics Awards (PBEA)
The PBEA is presented each February by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. These awards are designed to honor U.S. companies that demonstrate a firm commitment to ethical practices in their day-to-day operations, philosophies and response to crises and challenges.

Nominated companies will be asked to submit an application September 30, 2016. Finalists are evaluated on such criteria as demonstration of executive commitment to business ethics, clear communication of ethical standards to employees, consistently high quality of products and services, and a commitment to community and charitable involvement.

Three separate awards may be presented based on the size of the companies and the number of employees. The three winners will be recognized at the Awards Presentation and Luncheon Banquet scheduled for February 22, 2017.

Below is the link to nominate a company.

Participate in PHRA's First Pittsburgh Talent Pulse Survey
The Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA), the Pittsburgh Tech Council (PTC), and Imagine Careers are conducting the first annual Pittsburgh Talent Pulse Survey.

The goal of this project is to inform the region and help employers address the most important ways in which they can adapt with the modern workforce and make the changes necessary to retain employees.  Your answers will help us create the first  Pittsburgh Talent Pulse Report, which will be generated later in 2016.

Be sure to enter your name and email address at the bottom of the survey if you'd like to be entered into the $100 Amazon gift card giveaway. You'll remain anonymous, and your contact information will only be used to select and award the recipient.
