BERNIE WONG ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Dear Fellow Members of The Chicago Network,

It is with both pleasure and sadness that, after 38 years as the President and Co-Founder of Chinese American Service League (CASL), I announce my retirement at the end of this year.  Esther Wong, CASL's Executive Director, will also be retiring within the same period.  Since March of 2015 Esther, I and CASL's Board of Directors have been planning for our retirement.  So, although this may be a surprise to you, this is by no means unplanned. We have worked very hard over the past year to prepare for this transition including restructuring and recruitment of CASL's board, putting a highly experienced leadership team in place to augment the seasoned professional managers and engaging a Succession Coach for Esther and I and Transition Advisor for the Board. These carefully planned additions has given us the certainty that CASL is in great hands moving forward and ready for its next step in leadership.

I want to thank you for your leadership and support of both me personally and of CASL's mission and programs. I am particularly grateful for your advice and friendship throughout the years. It has been an honor to serve on The Chicago Network with you and learn tremendously through the process. I look forward to continue serving on The Chicago Network with you for as long as my term allows.

We will be keeping all of our friends and family closely informed via CASL's website, a monthly digital newsletter and e-blast specifically regarding the transition and next steps.

In the next few months, please feel free to call me anytime at (312)725-5222.

All my best,
Bernie
