Wallace State's athletics and Continuing Education programs welcomed hundreds of students on campus over the summer for summer camps. Baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball all hosted camps for a wide range of age groups and the Continuing Education program offered half-day camps for students entering kindergarten through seventh grade in the fall. 

Freddie Thomason, pictured at left below, and Gail Thomason, pictured at right, recall their time as educators at Wallace State with great fondness. Freddie Thomason worked in the psychology and mental health (now Human Services) programs from 1976 to 2000. Gail Thomason worked for more than five years at Wallace State, starting the Medical Laboratory Technician program at the college.

As Wallace State Community College celebrates its 50th anniversary, we want all of our alumni to be a part of the celebration by having you share photos and memories about your Wallace State Days with us to display in special albums on our social media links. 

Send photos of you and your friends from your time at Wallace State to [email protected] with any accompanying information about those pictured and the occasion if possible. It won't be published, but please include your name and contact information. We will collect the photos and stories and post them on our Wallace State social media sites.

Wallace State is partnering with HomeTown Bank to support an evening of fun, running and fundraising for Blount County and City Schools. Wallace State students, faculty and staff are welcome to participate in the 5K, Kids Fun Run, or to volunteer to help with the First Aid Booth. 

The August 13 event includes a 5K run at 6 p.m., followed by a Kids Fun Run at 7 p.m. The family event will offer food, live music, inflatables and fireworks. 

General entry is $10 for those who want to enjoy the festivities but not run in either race. Admission to the Kids Fun Run is $25 and includes a cotton runner shirt. Admission tot he 5K is $50 and includes a timed chip and moisture wicking runner shirt.
