Yankton Sports Committee Holds First Meeting
The Yankton CVB put an initial meeting together that includes board members from most of our youth sports programs in the Yankton area along with representatives of City of Yankton, Mount Marty College and Yankton High School. Eleven people were able to attend the first meeting on Wednesday, July 20.
Items on the agenda were how to maximize on our related to sporting events and fundraising.  Ideas that came from the group include:  electronic calendar to keep track of all sporting events in town, alerting Yankton businesses when tournaments are being held and even putting together event specific coupons that can be given to teams as they check in.
Watch for more details as this committee continues to work on ways to make our tournaments and events the best in the region!

Sidewalk Cafe License needed for alcohol consumption on sidewalks
According to attorney, Ross K. Den Herder, "Bar owners wishing to permit their customers to drink on the sidewalks in front of their establishments do not need to amend their current alcohol licenses (requiring two commission meetings).  Rather, they only need to apply for and obtain a sidewalk café license, which can be done by commission approval of an application at a single meeting."
More Feedback from the Social
I felt that the event was a big success.  Opportunities like this to connect with both the social and business community are well worth the time, and help to broaden the consumer base.  I believe that making personal connections opens the doors to success.  People like shopping at a place where they know the staff and are known by them.  As one who stands to promote local shopping, I see the importance in showing strong customer support.  David's Depot is proud to be a part of the Yankton community, and appreciates the Chamber's efforts in advertising on our behalf (local businesses)!
