Free Summer Safety Celebration and Pool Party for Glades Families
Families in Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay are invited to join Children's Services Council and our partners Saturday, July 16, for an amazing, FREE Summer Safety Celebration at Pioneer Park Pool, 866 State Road 715 in Belle Glade. The party, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., promotes child safety and includes free pool admission, free bicycle helmets for the first 200 children, free T-shirts for every child and parent/guardian, and free Subway sandwiches (limited supply). Space for the pool is limited, so please come early if you want to swim. Radio personalities from X102.3 and Beatz 96.3 will be there to pump up the music! Families also will be able to meet groups in the community that are ready to help families the party is for families. No unaccompanied minors will be admitted to the pool without an adult. No adult will be admitted to the pool without a child.

EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls
EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls will empower female students from various schools throughout the Palm Beach County District. The academy supports diversity and would introduce the junior and senior girls to organizations that are led by women executives and will focus on job shadowing, interview skills, resume writing, effective communication both verbal and written, career exploration and much more. The Leadership Academy is free and open to twenty (20) young ladies thanks to the generous donations of our sponsors. The Leadership Academy will meet once a month during the Palm Beach County School District calendar beginning in September of 2016, with eight (8) planned business tours in the areas of Leadership Empowerment (leadership and branding), Political Empowerment, Economic Empowerment and Education Empowerment. Training will be provided from Palm Beach County's Women Experts. The Leadership Academy participants will also be provided with a trip to Tallahassee to tour the Florida State Capitol. The tour would offer the girls an opportunity to meet face-to-face with legislators and learn more about the political process. Upon completion of the program in May of 2017, participants will finish with a leadership certificate and community service hours to be awarded during our year end Student Achievement Awards Program.
Criteria to participate:
* Full-time student in Palm Beach County School System
* Grade Point Average (GPA) of a 2.5 and higher
* Essay describing why you feel you are a good candidate for this program
