Greetings from Swanzey Lake! I am approaching the two week mark in my new role as Executive Director. I have been busy meeting with staff and watching Pilgrim Pines in action. I have also been meeting with members of our Pilgrim Pines family. I have hosted a number of scheduled visits in my office and have enjoyed many casual conversations on the beach, building relationships with as many of you as possible is priority one for me. As we move forward together in camp ministry, I need to know what is on your hearts as concerns our beloved ministry. Please don't be bashful about stopping by, sending me an email or giving me a call to share your hopes and dreams for Pilgrim Pines. I plan to be right here at camp for most of the summer. Once the camping season is behind us, I hope to be out and about visiting churches throughout the conference.
As I reflect on my life long relationship with Pilgrim Pines, I see so many things that are unaffected by time: the inviting solitude of lakeside devotionals; the joy on the faces of our children as they run around the beach front; the smell of campfire smoke coming from the camp ground; the sound of the Squanto bell; the roar of children singing in the Rec Hall; most importantly, the closeness we all feel to God while we are here. These are truly timeless things, the very things that keep us coming back year after year. For these things, I am grateful.
Let us together give thanks for the blessing of Pilgrim Pines on our lives. I ask that you keep our beloved ministry in your prayers as we embark on new initiatives, projects and programs. While we face many challenges, we are empowered by the enduring spirit of Pilgrim Pines and the counsel experienced through the Holy Spirit.
Blessings on each and every one of you.
Scott Lee
