Principal's Points
Bishop John J. Snyder High School
August 1, 2016

Deacon David Yazdiya

I'm looking forward to another great school year. Last May, we held our 11th graduation ceremony. It was a wonderful evening, and it was memorable knowing that 1,000 students have received their diploma from Bishop Snyder himself.

We will have new faces on campus this year, and I'd like to introduce our new teachers and staff to you. Mrs. Dominique Cook is our new Algebra II and Math for College Readiness teacher. Our new Art and Yearbook teacher is Elizabeth Kerns. Finally, we welcome Ann Marie Barta as our freshmen religion teacher.

As we prepare for another school year, I continue to be proud of the strong academic program we have here at BJS and the strong Catholic identity we display. These have earned us a great and respected reputation throughout the community. To maintain this level of quality education, we must continue to support and grow in all areas, especially in the area of technology. To that end, we continue to be committed to utilizing best practices and the latest technology in the classroom.

When I interview prospective students and families, the first question I ask is: "Why do you want to come to Bishop Snyder?" Our reputation as a strong academic institution is one of the first reasons given. Our faith environment is also frequently mentioned. As I repeat every year: I believe our Catholic identity, our academic rigor, our caring and compassionate faculty and staff don't exist by accident. We need to be purposeful in our striving to live out our mission as a Catholic school and as a serious academic institution. As Bishop Snyder once said, "BJS is a wonderful place, where a lot of good things are happening."

In Christ's Love and Peace,

Deacon David Yazdiya, Principal
