Over 700 campers, college students and staff converged on the campus of Gettysburg College this past week for FCA's 16th annual lacrosse camp - our largest lacrosse camp yet! In addition to bringing a bus of campers from all over the state of North Carolina, my main role was daily parent communication as well as serving as the camps' videographer filming throughout the day and editing all the footage into a video in time to show each night at evening program.

U-19 Vail
FCA U-19 Vail Recap Video

One of the highlights of my summer is always the trip out to Vail with FCA's U-19 team and this year was no different.  This summer, the team was comprised of 19 different guys from 9 different states, all of whom will be heading to college this fall. It's a unique trip because of the community that is created through our team house, activities on and off the field, and huddle conversations that go late into the night.  The above video captures just some of the incredible experience we shared in Vail  on and off the field.

One of my favorite aspects of  this ministry is how it incorporates families and not just students - especially on our Vail trips. Below is an example of one of the terrific families I have the privilege of getting to know through FCA.

"A belated but heartfelt and sincere thanks for including my son on the U-19 team. Needless to say, he had an amazing time! It was truly a most memorable and unique experience and one in which he will cherish for years to come. Thanks to your leadership and welcoming embrace, he felt immediately at ease and and a part of the close knit group. As I'm sure you could tell by the ever-present smile on his face, he was having the time of his life.  While he isn't a stranger to tournament lacrosse, he definitely was an unknown to you all both in terms of his play and personally. Again, you made him feel comfortable and from there he was able to make some lifelong friends after just a few days. Games are games, but friendships and experiences are treasures and I'm so thankfully that he had this opportunity with you all. The beauty of Vail, the mealtimes and huddles, the ranch and paintball, and the living arrangements, made for an incredible time."

And because you've been praying for her...a photo of Bailey
An answer to so many of your prayers - Bailey is doing so well! Days away from turning five-months-old, she is now entertaining all of us with her laughter and constant smiles. I have take on the role of Chief Smile Enticer in our house, as she always gifts me with the biggest of her gummiest grins. Please keep Bailey, Lanier and myself in your prayers as we continue this adventure that is parenthood.
