Summer ArcGIS Classes at ITRE

The following classes are currently scheduled at NC State ITRE in Raleigh NC.

July 2016
  1. Learning ArcGIS Pro: Fundamentals - July 27-28 - This two-day class teaches users how to create 2D and 3D maps in Esri's newest Desktop GIS application. You will learn how to navigate within the new ribbon interface, explore how to control layers, and how to create layouts. This is great for those just getting started in GIS or existing ArcMap users that wish to learn how to use ArcGIS Pro to accomplish normal daily tasks.
  2. ArcGIS Desktop Basics - July 29 - This one-day beginner level class is great for anyone that wishes to get a basic idea of what ArcGIS for Desktop can do. You will learn how to add layers, change symbology and create a new map layout. This class is perfect for someone that needs to refresh their skills and those that will be managing GIS staff but will not be doing the day to day work.
August 2016
  1. Introduction to ArcGIS II: Editing & Analysis - Aug 1-3 - This three-day class teaches ArcGIS users how to create, edit, manage and analyze GIS data. This class is the follow on to the Introduction to ArcGIS I: GIS Fundamentals. Students should have some previous experience using ArcGIS for Desktop (ArcMap & ArcCatalog) in order to successfully complete this course.
September 2016
  1.  Introduction to Python for ArcGIS - Sept 12-13 - This 2-day intermediate level class teaches students how to create simple python scripts for ArcGIS to automate and standardize geoprocessing routines. You will learn about the ArcPy module and how it can be accessed within a python script to link a series of tools together to form a single script which can be run anytime or even scheduled to run automatically at specific times. This course does not require any previous experience programming or developing scripts. However, some experience using ArcGIS for Desktop is required.
  2. Intermediate Python for ArcGIS - Sept 14 - This one-day class builds on the skills learned in the Introduction to Python for ArcGIS. Students learn how to use the ArcPy Data access module to manipulate data within a script. This will allow you to iterate over returned values, calculate new values and more. This class does require basic understanding of Python and leveraging ArcPy.
  3. Advanced Python for ArcGIS - Sept 15 - This one-day advanced class teaches students how to turn custom scripts in to a Python Add-in for ArcGIS. Add-ins are custom extensions which can contain toolbars and buttons which allow access to one or more python scripts. This makes it easier for other users to make use of the scripts you have created. This is an advanced course and does require previous experience using ArcGIS for Desktop and writing python scripts for ArcGIS.
  4.  Python Bundle - Sept 12-15 - Includes all three classes above and saves 10%.
October 2016
  1. Introduction to ArcGIS Spatial Statistics & R - Oct 3-4 - This 2-day intermediate level class teaches students how to create simple python scripts for ArcGIS to automate and standardize
