Rutgers Member/Guest Outing - Sunday, May 22nd
The weather in May has been very rainy but so far we've been lucky with our outings. Our Member-Guest Rutgers outing was on a cloudy day - the rain stopped right before we started play.
24 golfers turned out for our first time ever at Rutgers. We had 2 guests attend and we hope they decide to join our chapter. If they do within 30 days after the event, they, and their member friend, will get a $25 credit towards a future 2016 event.
Our contest winners were Heather Meade for longest drive, and Sheila McShane for closest to the pin. Sheila was the only player that made it onto the green, to boot! Good job ladies!
Galloping Hill Match Play with EWGA Westchester - Saturday, May 7th
EWGA Westchester has a Match Play series where they play other chapters nearby. They contacted us earlier this year about doing a Match Play event with them and we thought it was a great idea. Each chapter had 14 players; the format was singles match play.
The weather luckily cleared up right before the start of the match so at least there was no rain. CNJ played hard but alas, Westchester won 11 matches to our 3. Our chapter is just starting to get into match play thanks to Diane Peterson, so it was a good experience all the way around.
We plan on making this an annual event with the Westchester Chapter!
Sea Oaks Scramble - Sunday, April 24th
On Sunday, April 24th, EWGA CNJ had its first golf outing of the season - a scramble event down the shore at Sea Oaks. The weather turned out to be great considering the rain earlier in the week, and 23 golfers turned out to play.
We had prizes for low scramble score, closest to the pin, and longest drive. The winning scramble team was Darlene Robinson, Susan Smith, Sheila McShane, and Karla Pollack with a score of 70, or 2 below par. Donna Conroy won the longest drive prize, and Donna Beland won closest to the pin. Afterwards, we gathered today to enjoy some adult beverages and swap stories. A fun start to the season for sure!
