Studio Visit - Tanline Printing

At Tanline Printing, Jeik Ficker and Amanda Beekhuizen Williams make prints, t-shirts, posters, lathe-cut records, books and more. They are set up for screenprinting, letterpress, relief printing and bookmaking. They teach classes on these subjects. They'll be hosting a visit for PaperWorks members to tour the studio and view their work. This informative outing is free and open to guests and public, but space is limited, so RSVP please.                  Fall 2016 monthly meeting programs  
 
Sept. 8: Miles Conrad, known best for his works with encaustics but also makes paintings, objects, and immersive environment.
 
Oct. 13: Karen Hymer, whose approach to image making explores the blending of photo-sensitive materials, digital media, printmaking and encaustics.
 
Nov. 10: Mayme Kratz, who elevates the ordinary to extraordinary by preserving nature's splendor in preserved tinted polymer resin.
 
Dec. 8: Tim Mosman, whose studio practice is focused on painting and drawing across a variety of media.

From September through May, PaperWorks meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at St. Philips in the Hills Church, East Murphey Gallery. Business meeting starts at 10am, program at 11am. The Murphey Gallery is reserved from 9am to 3pm, so come early or stay after the program to visit and reconnect with members and guests. PaperWorks meetings are open to members, guests and the public at no charge. Summer meeting times and locations vary. Check our website at www.paperworks.info

This exhibition of artist books by PaperWorks members will honor the beloved Haunted Bookshop, which once occupied the building, during the 20th anniversary of its closure. In the spirit of education, we will be showcasing books that highlight a particular technique, whether that is a binding, book structure, or surface design method. To accompany their books, artists will provide a short statement (1-2 paragraphs) explaining a little about the technique or giving a brief history of its use.  More info coming soon or contact nora.mcginnis@live.com

Back by popular demand and almost full, one lucky member can still slip into Amanda Beekhuizen's wildly successful letterpress workshop. The workshop will cover typesetting (both wood and lead), linoleum block cutting, and letterpress printing on the four Vandercook presses at the UA Letterpress Lab. Remember someone who has passed away by making a donation to the PaperWorks Memorial Fund. A PaperWorks member, a personal friend or a family member.  Your thoughtful donation will be used to support special projects that benefit the PaperWorks membership. The names of all memorialized individuals will be recorded in a beautiful handmade book that will be displayed on site whenever a project sponsored by the fund is held. Mary Ellen is the moderator of Origami LAFF, a fun-loving paper-folding club that meets monthly at the Nanini branch library. Meetings are free, open to the public and usually held on the 3rd Sunday each month from 1-4pm. Next meeting: Sun., July 17.
