Coastal Heritage Society presents the final movie in the Cultured Coast Summer Film
Series: Fried Green Tomatoes (1991) directed by Jon Avnet on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

Based on the novel by Fannie Flagg, the film follows parallel stories of an uphappy housewife named Evelyn Couch who befriends Ninny Threadgoode, an outgoing and friendly woman in a nursing home. Through Ninny’s entertaining stories of Idgie Threadgoode, a woman in 1920s
Alabama, Evelyn builds her own confidence and a valuable friendship. Fried Green Tomatoes received two Academy Award nominations and was filmed in Juliette, GA.

A reception with Southern appetizers and a cash bar featuring a signature cocktail will kick
off the event at 6:30 pm. At 7 pm Michael Chaney, Film and Television Professor at SCAD,
will introduce the film. Questions and discussion are welcome.

Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization located in Savannah,
and is comprised of five museums: Savannah History Museum and Battlefield Memorial Park, Savannah Children's Museum, Georgia State Railroad Museum, Old Fort Jackson and Pin
