Montgomery Township has been ranked among the safest places in America in the latest annual ratings from Safewise.com. Montgomery is ranked #67 in the Safewise "Top 100 Safest Cities in America 2016" list, which rates 20,000 townships across the U.S each year.
Montgomery's safety statistics are also in the top 5% of all NJ towns and one of the best in Somerset County.

The 2014 Uniform Crime Statistics for Municipalities in New Jersey - the latest official numbers available - cite Montgomery's violent crime rate of 0.09 per 1000 and a property crime rate of 5.14 per 1000.
