Join us Wednesday, August 3 at noon in the Children's Library for a bite of cake and a special visit from our Secretary of State, Michele Reagan. Ms. Reagan will present a $20,000 LSTA Grant check awarded to CVCL for an Early Literacy project.

The grant project will expand library services to Spanish-Speaking families through a focus on early literacy, music, movement and culture. Summer Reading/Summer FUN! Ends with a Splash 7/29

That means an average 2,251 minutes of reading per person or 51 minutes per day. Of course, a few have logged only 5 minutes of reading all summer while our top readers have logged over 10,000!

If you have been reading, but haven't logged your minutes, make sure you get them into https://cvlibrary.azsummerreading.org/ by July 27 for credit toward our Grand Finale Pool Party!

CVHS Graphic Design Students Lend Us Their Talent

Can you imagine a group of teens choosing to spend hours of their free time in a classroom this summer? Well, a select group of advanced graphic design students under Ms. Tina Scott's direction have been working on a special project for the library. They are designing custom artwork for the end panels in the children's, teens, and media areas.

What are end panels, you ask? They are the (usually decorative or distinctive) panels at the end of each stack (as we call it in library-lingo) or row of shelves. Currently, most of ours are a dark brown, simulated wood laminate over particle board. Boring. Not so in the new library. The end panels throughout the library will be custom printed with designs reflecting our unique community and our creative talent, a product of the generosity of several very special high school students.

We look forward to introducing these young people and their work to you at our Grand Opening in November. Don't miss it!
Town IT Team Shoring Up Network Infrastructure

Due to much needed upgrades to the network and hardware that gives us access to the Internet, the library is experiencing occasional  and momentary disconnects. There is no way for us to predict when these will happen or how long they will last but, so far we have only had minor disruptions. Please be patient with us and our IT Team. The work must be done and it won't be long until you will get a whole new Internet experience connected to fiber in the new library.
