Ellen Owens Promoted
Currituck County Cooperative Extension is proud to announce that Ellen Owens has recently been promoted to the role of County Extension Director in Pasquotank County. Ellen served 20 years as the 4-H & Youth Development Agent in Currituck County.  She began her role in Pasquotank on July 1st. During her tenure as 4-H & Youth Development Agent in Currituck County, Ellen led a very successful and diverse 4-H program.  She was agent to numerous state and national award winners.

Camp

Can you guess what car fuel, chewing gum, cardboard, and margarine have in common? Hint-it's a plant product! Come find out the answer to this question and many other cool seeds of plant knowledge at the Currituck County 4-H hosted "Learn and Grow Plant Science Camp",  August 9-11 , from  9 am to 4 pm  each day. Camp will be held at the Currituck County Center located at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917. For youth ages 10 and up, pre-registration including a camp fee of $50 is required.

Foods Brochure

The Currituck County Local Foods Brochure of small farms and roadside markets has taken on a new look for 2016. The new, larger brochure features more information on the farms that sell direct to consumers, roadside markets throughout the county, as well as pick-your-owns, NC Seafood, vineyards, wineries, and breweries.  Currituck County's rural lifestyle enables residents and tourists alike to purchase fresh and nutritious seasonal produce grown from Currituck and neighboring counties. 
SHIIP not just for Seniors

The services of SHIIP, the Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program of the North Carolina Department of Insurance, are not only for people aged 65 and older. SHIIP also provides free counseling to people on Medicare due to a disability.  Before you can receive Medicare due to a disability, you must have received Social Security Disability Insurance for a period of time.
Currituck County Recreation Department will hold a Public Input Meeting on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moyock Methodist Church in Moyock.  The purpose of the informational meeting is to seek additional public input towards the development of the Moyock Park. For more information, contact Parks & Recreation at 252-232-3007.
