C.S. Lewis Institute
    Resources for Discipleship of Heart and Mind

Friends and Fellows of the C.S. Lewis Institute Annapolis,

This is the last month of the C.S. Lewis Institute academic year (July 2013-June 2014). During this month:

1.) We will graduate 15 Year One Fellows and 8 Year Two Fellows;

Our Fellows have been reading, studying, and meeting monthly with a mentor, their small groups, and as a full group to discuss their readings and interact with gifted speakers and mentors on their monthly topics. Now they go on to serve Jesus where they have been called and for some of them, it means as far away as Laos.  Some of them will become mentors to our next set of Fellows. Others will become mentors and teachers in their home churches where they are better equipped to serve Jesus there. More than 75 Fellows have graduated from the CSLI Fellows Program in Annapolis these past five years, and they have come from over 25 churches, representing over 20 denominations.

2.) And we will begin the new Year 1 Fellows Class with 24 Fellows and 11 Mentors. 11 men and 13 women have committed to the new Fellows class year and have already begun their studies looking ahead to the retreat in September where they will spend a couple of days in uninterrupted discussion of their readings, telling their "stories", and enjoying fellowship with a community of followers of Jesus.  Eleven mentors have agreed to walk alongside this group of men and women and meet with them monthly, and attend their group meetings to provide counsel and insight as they become better disciples (learners) of Jesus.

In addition, exciting things are happening in the U.S. and abroad to make the discipleship programs of the Institute available to more nations in more languages. There are over ten cities in the US and abroad that want to bring a C.S. Lewis Institute to their locale; and partners like English Language Institute China (ELIC) and Ambassadors for Christ (AFC) are not only using our resources but are being blessed by receiving our Fellows into their organizations.

We also have a network of over 50 pastors meeting weekly to pray for one another and come together each quarter to fellowship and share at the C.S. Lewis Institute's Chesapeake Pastor's Lunch which is scheduled for June 25th, noon, at Phillips Crab Deck in downtown Annapolis.

We will use the summer to recharge and plan for the activities that begin in August/September with the return of our students and the Fellows retreat at Osprey Point. Ann and I will be traveling to Texas in June to meet with people in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio about starting CSLI's in their cities.

We are planning more seminar events in 2014-2015 and have Dr. Ken Boa booked for November 20-23, 2014.

Thank you for your support and prayers for the Institute. Many are being blessed by the discipleship programs, seminars, and fellowships offered through the Institute. Pray that God will give us wisdom to use His resources to accomplish His purpose.
Blessings,

Jim Phillips

Amy's Corner:

Students are scattered! Summer is here! Well, not all students are scattered. I'm very excited that for three months this summer I'm diving into Scripture with a few johnnies as we read the Bible cover to cover in 90 days. Please pray for us as we read God's word; I can't tell you how excited we are to "bathe ourselves daily in scripture," as one student put it. I am also discussing a Francis Schaeffer book, True Spirituality.

I will be praying over the summer that the Lord gives me His purpose for the year ahead, and will be reading books in preparation for the groups and meetings that will take place in the fall.

Please be in prayer for these groups this coming fall! I am praying the Lord would enable us to reach many more students with the love of Christ.

In Him,

Amy
