New, more secure Chipped Debit Cards are arriving this Summer.
This Summer your Debit MasterCard will be replaced with a more secure Chipped Card to help combat counterfeiting. When you insert your card into a chip-enabled terminal, the security chip validates authenticity by assigning a one-time secure code for in-person transactions. If a merchant doesn't have chip enabled terminals (most big retailers do) the new cards also have a traditional magnetic stripe that you'll just swipe.
