HEAL Welcomes Keynote Speaker, Dr. Maya Rockeymoore, president and CEO of Global Policy Solutions.
The HEAL Conference serves as a gathering to celebrate, learn, and engage with people in New Hampshire working to promote and support equitable access to healthy foods and safe places to play and be active.
With this meeting we will discuss what it means to create a culture of health in New Hampshire through engaging partners, advocating for change, and learning from successful initiatives.

New Programs Opening Access to Fresh, Healthy Foods in Franklin
Concord Monitor - July 8, 2016 by Elodie Reed, Monitor Staff:
Riding the bus to the Franklin Farmer's Market for the first time, 91-year-old Gertrude Josselyn said she was looking forward to buying some fresh greens.
"I haven't had vegetables since my brother died," she said, "in 1992."
Plus, she added, "My doctor says I don't eat enough greens - he says they're supposed to keep me young!"
Josselyn was with a group of ladies from Senior Haven East housing community, many of whom had never been to their city's farmer's market, which is in its sixth year.
They were able to go this week, though, thanks to a bus ride from TRIP (Twin Rivers Intergenerational Program) Senior Program Center, which is offering a free, scheduled route for the first time.
A grant from Franklin Savings Bank and a partnership with the Belknap-Merrimack County Community Action Program allowed the bus to be offered this year.

Lebanon Plays! Where Does your Family Like to Play BEYOND Your Neighborhood?
HNH Foundation features a video from Lebanon Recreation & Parks:
This is the next step in the City of Lebanon's focus on providing families with playgrounds and play spaces that are specifically designed for children ages 0 - 5. With support from the HNH Foundation, "Lebanon Plays' continues the work of "Safe Routes to Play" which seeks to improve the safety and ease of biking and walking to recreational areas for young children and their families.
Additional videos on the HNH Foundation website document how stakeholders in Lebanon are helping families get from where they live to where they play.

Elm City Rotary Club Recognized For Healthy Kids Mission

The "Follow ME" Sneaker Project through Elm City Rotary provided 875 second graders in Cheshire County with a new pair of sneakers.

Keene - Sentinel Source - July 6, 2016:
The Keene Elm City Rotary Club, now in its 26th year, was recently recognized for its efforts to support youth well-being through collaboration with other area organizations by the New Hampshire Governor's Council on Physical Activity.
"We want to reach every child in Cheshire County through our network of nonprofits and other organizations," Elm City Rotary President Rudy Fedrizzi said in a news release.
Some of the club's activities related to wellness include the annual Kids DeMar Program for area elementary students, the Super Seniors DeMar Program for people over the age of 70, the "Follow ME!" Sneaker Project that this year provided 875 2nd-graders in Cheshire County with a new pair of sneakers, and the Dictionary Project that gives hundreds of 3rd-graders their own dictionary each year.
