On July 21, 2016, the ASES leadership will be attending a half-day retreat in Rosemont, IL, to formulate an ASES strategic plan for the next 3-5 years. To prepare for the retreat, we need your input. This past Wednesday you received a survey with questions regarding the current and future activities of our society. If you haven’t had a chance yet, please fill out the survey. Your feedback will play an important role in formulation of new strategies and I encourage your candid responses. Over the past two years, with the insightful work of our Industry committee, and the unwavering support of ASES membership and the Executive Committee, the ASES Foundation has once again become a viable tool in our society's long-range plans.
To that end we have been charged with the restructuring of the foundation's bylaws, and establishing a governance structure which facilitates continuity of its membership yet assures adequate autonomy to assure progressive, judicious use of its monies. We are proposing three officers with voting powers. In addition there will be a small (5-7 member) working Board of Trustees comprised principally of ASES members and a select group of nonmembers drawn from industry and finance.
As we have stated in the past, the enhanced growth of ASES allows us the opportunity to expand the many opportunities such a vibrant foundation can offer, and it is incumbent upon our existing membership to remain active in their giving and solicitation if this is to continue. This is an exciting time for our society and I encourage you to be an active part.

In the June 20th issue of Sports Illustrated, in an article entitled "Wild Curve: A Youth Pitching Myth Gets the Hook", the recent article by Anthony A. Romeo, MD, et al, was featured along with the JSES April article by Robert A. Keller, MD, et al, highlighting the potential of medial collateral ligament injury due to young pitchers throwing too often and too many fastballs.
As noted in last month's ASES news, Dr. Romeo's study was selected as the best paper at the International Shoulder and Elbow Congress in Korea.

ASES 2016 Annual Meeting, Boston, Massachusetts

Registration is now open for the ASES 2016 Annual Meeting!
All registration information is posted to the ASES website. You will find an option to register online, registration forms for faxing/mailing, event descriptions, travel information, local dining options, and other information about the Boston area. The final details of the program schedule are currently being completed. The program will be posted to the ASES website as soon as it is complete
In addition to the options noted above, a golf outing has been arranged for the afternoon of Friday, October 7th, at the Weston Golf Club.

The Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons® and the Orthopaedic Research Society jointly sponsor the CORR® ORS Richard A. Brand Award for Outstanding Orthopaedic Research. The Award will be given to an individual based on the quality and scientific merit of an original paper focusing on a topic of clinical relevance. Award total of $25,000
ABJS/CORR® Nicolas Andry Award
The Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons®, in conjunction with Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research®, sponsors this award of $10,000.
Marshall R. Urist young Investigator Award

The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2016. Additionally, all EST submissions do not require a
