July Program - Tour of New Filson Historical Society Building
Location:  1310 S. Third Street (new building on 4th & Ormsby), Louisville, KY
Date/Time:  Thursday, July 19, 2016 at 5:30pm.

Project Description:
The project is the first expansion for the Filson Historical Society on its current site located within 'Old Louisville', the historic neighborhood first developed during the late 1800's after the Southern Exposition. The project includes multiple components: a new 20,000 s.f. building addition, renovation of the existing Ferguson Mansion and its adjacent carriage house, and a new outdoor quad that is accessible for the entire community. Programmatically, the new building will double the Filson's archival storage capacity and provide a new oration-quality lecture hall, as well as providing flexible-use event spaces that will incorporate changing exhibits.

Program Description:
Attendees will convene at the lobby of the New Addition located on the Filson Historical Society campus at 1310 South Third Street. Refreshments will be served in the lecture hall off of the lobby before the building tour begins at (time). Attendees will tour the renovated Mansion, Carriage House and New Addition with the Architects from de Leon & Primmer Architecture Workshop. Following the tour and a short Q&A, a special reception will be held to acknowledge Roberto de Leon's acceptance into the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows.

Competition Announcement
Tri Ân Monument
CALL FOR ENTRIES

In Louisville, Kentucky, a diverse group of citizens led by Yung Nguyen, an immigrant from Vietnam, has conceived this idea of a monument of thanksgiving; a place of special recognition for the tremendous sacrifices the American and South Vietnamese Armed Forces made during the Vietnam War in order to give the Vietnamese people a chance to live in freedom.
This citizen's group formed a foundation to develop this concept and to raise private funds to implement it. The foundation's name is "Tri Ân", which means "deep gratitude" in the Vietnamese language.

A site was secured in an existing park dedicated to veterans. It is in Jeffersontown, a suburb of Louisville, Kentucky. It is the Foundation's intent to fund and build the Tri Ân Monument based upon the selected design.

We would like to invite local architects and architectural interns to participate in a design competition for a project to be built.

The registration fee for students has been reduced to just $35/ entry. Non-student registration is $75. The top three entries (as determined by the jury) will be awarded $4,000 each. The winning entry will be constructed in Louisville, KY.

All of the competition information can be found on the website below:
