WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE IF ASKED "HOW CAN I GET STARTED IN ELECTRONICS?"
It's something we hear frequently, but there is no 'one size fits all' answer. Editor Bryan's article this month somewhat details the dilemma when weighed against the expectations of someone wanting to start playing around with tech. Taking into account that, as a hobby, a lot has evolved since many of us got started, what would you recommend as a good kickoff point to begin a journey that has spanned decades for many?
And not to forget this week's benefactor, PCBFabExpress. Check 'em out and show them some love!

THE ART OF ELECTRONICS: WHAT CONSTITUTES THE ATOMIC LEVEL?
A recurrent theme in my attempt to teach electronics to others is deciding on what constitutes the atomic level of the art; that is, should I discuss the flow of electrons, the fundamentals of Ohm's Law and discrete components, ICs and other component-level modules, or complete devices at the system level?

There's a magic in building audio amplifiers that I've never found in a thousand microprocessor projects and - if that amplifier happens to glow in the dark with the soft light of vacuum tube filaments - so much the better.
