Conference to hire Racial Justice Associate

The Massachusetts Conference is seeking to hire a full-time Associate for Racial Justice Ministries. This person will coordinate and guide the work of the Conference staff, clergy and lay leaders in the area of racial justice, support and expand networks of racial justice leaders within the Conference, and increase collaboration between the Conference and other organizations working to end racism.

This work will be done in collaboration with the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ. The position will be funded for two years with the remaining money from the Barnes Fund for Mission and Justice Ministries, an expendable legacy from Arthur and Sidney Barnes, along with some income from a new endowment recently given by the First United Parish of Everett.

Online course on conflict resiliency offered this fall
People and churches often face challenges in their ways of communicating and resolving conflict. It can either reinforce unhelpful habits or it can move towards new insights and abilities in resiliency.   In partnership with the Center for Progressive Renewal, the Conference is offering a 10 Module Online Program to church teams of 2 - 3 leaders.
The deadline to register is Sept. 20.

Obituaries
The Rev. Dr. George L. Bolton  died on June 22, just one month after the 50th anniversary of his ordination.

The Rev. Bolton served in the US Army in Korea, and received his M.Div. and Doctorate at Andover Newton Theological School. He was a member of Christ Congregational Church in Brockton for 39 years.

There will be visiting hours on July 5, 2016 at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held at Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant Street, Brockton, on July 6, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at 2:30 at the Bourne National Cemetery on Cape Cod.
