Imagine Currituck
How do you "Imagine Currituck?" As a citizen of our beautiful county, you have a unique opportunity to give input and insight to a new effort launched by the Currituck Planning and Community Development Department. This project will update our current land use plan, help establish a county-wide vision, and guide future growth and development.

Citizenship 
NC Focus

One Currituck County 4-H member attended 4-H Citizenship North Carolina Focus, which was held in Raleigh, NC. The Currituck County delegate returned home from three days in which more than 140 youth and adults representing 61 4-H programs across the state gathered to exchange ideas, gain knowledge and learn about the importance of being an active and engaged citizen. Tucker Melton represented Currituck at the June 13-15 conference. 
Vaccination 
Alert

North Carolina horse owners are urged to vaccinate their equine after two horses in Horry County, South Carolina contracted Eastern Equine Encephalomyelitis within the past three weeks. EEE is a mosquito-borne disease that is preventable in equine by vaccination. Horry County is the northern-most coastal county in South Carolina and borders Brunswick County in North Carolina.  EEE causes inflammation or swelling of the brain and spinal cord and is usually fatal. 
 International  Cooking

Looking to spice up your diet? North Carolina Cooperative Extension is hosting two international cooking workshops specializing in Asian and French cooking. The French Cooking class will be held on  August 15th  and the Asian Cooking class will be held on  October 19th, 2016 . These classes will be held at the Currituck County Center of NC Cooperative Extension from  11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  and the registration fee for each class will be $10.00. 
Currituck Festival of Fireworks
The annual Independence Day Celebration in Corolla will be held on July 4th. The  event starts at 12:00 p.m. with children's games, activities, and food vendors, music starts at 5:00 pm with a fireworks display at dusk. Read more.
