Sent to the Principal's Office
Monday, June 27

Good afternoon.  For the first time in nearly forty years, I have the distinct pleasure of introducing myself as the "new" principal at St. Mary's School.  I hope this eBlast finds you all well, and I pray you bear with me as I take this maiden voyage of sending my first eBlast!  As you may have heard, after 37 years behind the principal's desk, Mr. Billy Pahl has decided to retire.  I would like to congratulate Mr. Pahl on his years of service and the impeccable legacy he has left behind.  I am excited for the future of our school and the opportunity and trust the St. Mary's community has placed with me. We've hit the ground running in the school office, and I find it hard to believe I'm in my fourth week on the job already!  If you have any questions or would like to stop by to say hello, please come on by the school office.
I look forward to working with all of you to foster the success of our St. Mary's students in the 2016-2017 school year

Sincerely,
John Mein

New Uniform Policy
The School Uniform Committee has been working hard to update the school uniform and dress code policy for the 2016-2017 school year.  The main areas that have been updated are shoes and socks.  You can view the entire '16/'17 Student Handbook here: Handbook; Also, here is a helpful guide to take with you when purchasing shoes for your St. Mary's student: Shoe Shopping Guide.  All these resources are available on the home page of the school website.

School Supply List
There's nothing like the smell of a newly sharpened pencil, the crisp tear of new Velcro while opening a binder, and the sharp SNAP! of its three rings securely holding pages of wide-ruled notebook paper and dividers.  There's also nothing like the craziness of the school supply aisle in the days leading up to the first day of school!  Because we want to do all we can to save your sanity, the school supply lists are here: School Supplies.  Beat the crazy rush and have your students be prepared for the first day of school.  Supply lists are also available at http://school.stmarysfbg.com under helpful links.

Embroidery/Monogramming Deadlines
Pursuant to the 2016-2017 Uniform Policy, all school uniform shirts shall be embroidered with the St. Mary's School logo.  There are several approved vendors to embroider the school logo.  That list can be found here: Approved Vendors.  The deadline for some of these are coming up soon, so please get these taken care of as soon as possible!

Mr. Pahl health update
As another school year came to a close, the St. Mary's family was dealt the blow of the news of Billy Pahl's diagnosis of cancer.  Mr. Pahl underwent surgery two weeks ago, and in true Mr. Pahl fashion, he is already back to work! This is a true testament to the power of prayer and good will.

From Billy Pahl:
I am recovering nicely from surgery, and I received good news with the final pathology report.  A blood test in six weeks should confirm that I am free of cancer.  I thank all students, families and staff for the many prayers offered on my behalf.  I felt supported and "lifted up" as I moved through the medical procedures.
I am excited that you are signed up for the 160th year for St. Mary's School.  I think this will be the best year ever for our school!  We have a wonderful school community - great families and dedicated teachers and a new principal, Mr. Mein, to lead the way.
      God bless you!
