+ worship

This Sunday we begin our 6-week journey through the Psalms. We will hear how these Psalms cover quite a bit of material - praise, thanksgiving, lament, trust - all of which is pleasing to God, because it is truly genuine expression. We will celebrate how God's Word takes such beautiful, varied form, and prepare ourselves for the journey as we gather together in worship.

In addition to our Nativity Prayer List, we remember the people who were killed in the terrorist attacks in Yemen and Turkey. Rest eternal, grant unto them, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.

+ acoustic music

We give thanks for our Acoustic Music Group as they shared their musical gifts on June 19. They continue to empower our worship with their leadership in our "Of Land and Seasons"  Appalachian flavored  liturgy several times during the year.  This group loves to pick, strum, shake, tap or thump all sorts of instruments from guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, bass, spoons, etc.  And they sing, too!  Beginning again in August, this group meets on Thursdays at  6:30  they jam many styles of music including but not exclusive to rock and roll, bluegrass, Gospel, country, and blues.  The Acoustic Music "jams" all year round, however, check the Nativity calendar or contact Mark Janney for more info.

Our youth and chaperones return from the Beach Retreat on Thursday! We ask your prayers for their safe return home, as well as their continual growth in love and knowledge of the way the Holy Spirit is guiding their faith journey. Retreats like this one deepen their relationships with God, as well as one another. We thank you for supporting these formative events!

Just after the July Fourth holiday, school supplies go on sale. We are in the process of making 125 bags for Lutheran World Relief School Kits and each bag contains: four 70 sheet spiral notebooks of wide or college ruled paper 8"x 10.5"; one 30-centimeter ruler or a ruler with centimeters on one side and 12 inches on the other; one pencil sharpener; one pair of blunt scissors; five unsharpened #2 pencils;  five black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); one box of 16 or 24 crayons; one 2.5 inch eraser. If you would like to provide these items when they go on sale, they may be placed in the basket under the women's bulletin board in the hallway to the right as you exit the worship area. If you would rather contribute dollars to help buy school items, you may place your donation  marked "school kits"  in the offering plate.  Thank you for your help.
