Do you have an idea for a project that will support seniors in your community? The Age Friendly Edmonton Innovation Fund supports new projects that involve seniors and build local communities that value, respect and actively support the well-being of seniors. 

The Innovation Fund provides grants of up to $5,000 for community projects that best meet the following goals:

• Community support services are inclusive and responsive in meeting the needs of seniors
• The community is engaged in meeting the needs of seniors

Priority will be given to community leagues and other community-based organizations in Edmonton with not-for-profit status.

The Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards recognize extraordinary Albertans whose volunteer efforts have contributed to the well-being of their community and fellow community members. Nominations are accepted until September 20.

The Alberta Nonprofit Survey gathers data on finances, demand for services, staffing, and the economic outlook of Alberta's nonprofits and charities and is a valuable source of information on the state of the nonprofit sector in Alberta. The 2016 report is based on the analysis of 460 responses collected from nonprofit organizations across Alberta between February 2 and 26, 2016.

Your volunteer engagement program can be measured by more than just the hours a volunteer gives your organization. What other kinds of information should you keep track of, and how do you know if you're doing a good job with your volunteer engagement program? This webinar will help you think through both the quantitative and qualitative information you can use to evaluate your program. You'll learn criteria for success for your volunteer program and how you can work with others to create a culture of measurement for volunteer engagement.

Central Lions Seniors Association

The Seniors Home Adaptation and Repair Program (SHARP) will help senior homeowners to remain in their homes and maintain their independence by providing eligible seniors with a low-interest home equity loan to finance home repairs and adaptations. Examples of home repairs and adaptations covered under the program would be:

• widening doorways or hallways to increase accessibility
• installing walk-in tubs
• roof replacements
• plumbing and electrical repairs

SHARP will replace the home repair grants provided through the Special Needs Assistance for Seniors Program. A grant component will be available under SHARP to help lower-income seniors who do not qualify under the loan program, but require financial support for critical home repairs.

The Edmonton Radial Railway Society (ERRS) has the largest fleet of heritage streetcars in western Canada and operates two heritage streetcar routes in the city.
